City, Butcher Row (Goodman)

Address:Butcher Row
In the 1841 census Elizabeth Goodman is a bun shop keeper in Great Butcher Row. This is the only licensed bun shop I have ever come across, perhaps similar to the pie shop in Reading, where the rear of the premises was a pie makers and shop, whilst the front was a bar. A wonderful concept! Also in 1841 John Goodman is at the Beerhouse, Much Park Street, which became the Black Prince, run by Sarah Goodman in 1850.
