After the ALHAMBRA had to be demolished due to the Phoenix Initiative, licensee Patrick Loughron was granted permission in December 1999 to open a new bar named ZEST on the premises formerly occupied by the CASK AND BOTTLE, which had closed since an arson attack in June 1995.
In mid-2001 Patrick Loughron was threatened with a fine for playing hits without a music licence, and the licensee was in trouble once again following a shooting at the bar on 31st October 2002.
On the 15th July 2005 Loughron was sadly discovered drowned in the canal at Foleshill, although it appeared not to be connected with the shooting. | |||
