Barley Mow, Derby Lane
These premises have been known by different names during their history: | FROM | TO | NAME |

1863 | c1868 | DERBY ARMS | |
? | ? | BARLEY MOW | |
A mow is a stack, in this case of barley. The sign of the barley mow was simply an indication that beer was being sold.
In 1756 four soldiers were billeted here. In a lease the Barley Mow is said to be next door to the Sun Tavern. By 1762 it had become the BLACKAMOOR'S HEAD. | |||
