| The first known reference to these premises is in the Coventry Standard of 26th September 1868, concerning the license transfer from Samuel Russell to James Byron. The Coventry Herald of 16th July 1869 reported the transfer from James Byron to William Simpson Richards.
In February 1870 the pub was advertised To Let due to the proprietor going abroad. | |||
