Green Dragon, Smithford Street

In 1737 Mr William Skeers of the Green Dragon was fined for blocking the roadway at West Orchard with timber. This pub appears on Bradford's survey of Coventry dated 1748-49.

This sign comes from the coat of arms of the Earls of Pembroke, although the dragon in the George and Dragon stories is usually green.
