Alternative Addresses:High Street, Hillfields
Photo The Hare and Hounds opened in 1829, at which time the street was still known by its original name, High Street. To 1923 this is known to have been a home brew pub. Note the longevity of the Hewitt family - 73 years in charge in total! It closed on 17th January 1965.

This name is an obvious reference to hunting.
