Red House, 483 Stoney Stanton Road
These premises have been known by different names during their history: | FROM | TO | NAME |
1765 | 1993 | RED HOUSE | |
1993 | c2004 | FATTY ARBUCKLE'S | |
The original Red House before it was replaced by the new-build in 1948.
This name possibly refers to the colour of the brickwork on the building. The pub had a pleasure garden attached. In 1925 a music license was granted for use in the lawn and athletic ground at the Red House.
In early March 1939 Ansells Brewery applied to have an enlarged premises built on adjoining land - an application which was approved later the same month. War intervened, however, and the newly built premises didn't open until Friday 8th October 1948.
From the late 1970s until the late 1980s it was owned by the Hoskins brewery of Leicester, and after that became FATTY ARBUCKLE'S nightclub for a few years.
