Rose, Brownshill Green

Rose Brownshill Green The Coventry Herald reported in January 1847 that landlord Thomas Beacham was charged for not allowing a Police Sergeant into his house. However, some ambiguity over the licensing rules led to the case being dismissed. In 1872 the Rose Inn at Brownshill Green, on the road to Hawkes End, is up for sale. In 1878 William Barr had recently purchased this pub from Stephen Saidler (sic). He left it to his wife, Rose Barr.

This is by far the most popular flower mentioned in pub names. It is a national heraldic symbol.
