Rose Inn, 33 West Orchard
Alexander Daniels, a maltster, is recorded in the Electoral Registers for West Orchard from 1855, and The Rose Inn is mentioned in June 1856 when the Chauntry Tavern was auctioned there.
In 1861 the pub was involved in evidence of the murder by poisoning of Betsy Beamish by her husband. This is by far the most popular flower mentioned in pub names. It is a national heraldic symbol. | |||
