This name was chosen to symbolise "the great future before this modern city, rising again from the war-time destruction.", and building work began in March 1956.
The Silver Sword opened on Wednesday 9th October 1957, with the license being transferred from the OLD BATHS which was demolished in 1951. The pub soon earned the local nickname of the Dirty Dagger.
In 1982 it was reported as 'popular with young and old alike and very well decorated.' By 1985 it had been recently given the treatment by Hampden Host Group with video juke boxes and purple and silver decor, revolving disco lights, etc.
It has since been Trinity's, The Loft from 2010, and from 2016 the Big Bamboo nightclub. | |||
