These must be the arms of the Lords of Styvechale Manor, the Gregory-Hood family. They owned Styvechale village and all the lands around it, that is, what is now the Memorial Park and Stivichale housing estate. Their arms can be seen on Coat of Arms Bridge.
I have found mention of a Stivichale Arms in 1861 on the Leamington Road. This is a much older building than the present Styvechale Arms on the roundabout at the junction of the Leamington road and Kenpas Highway.
It opened in 1959. In 1982 it reopened as a Toby Inn after a conversion that cost £254,000. Accommodation has been built at the back and it is now a Premier Inn.
