The name must come from a local topographic feature. The Glade occupies the site of Band's Fir Tree Farm, and opened on 12th April 1965. In March 1993 licensee Barry Kilcoyne left "after clashing with a gang of thugs smoking cannabis in his pub." (Coventry Evening Telegraph). After a period of closure, the pub reopened under new managers, Mick & Michelle Ryan, in April 2021, despite the pub receiving graffiti and vandalism before it had even opened!
