In the 1851 census there are no matching records but in 1861 Thomas Pinfold is 31 and a baker in North Street. In 1871 he is 41 and a baker and grocer in North Street. This is the Rose and Woodbine, North Street, as the first licensee there was John Gardner Pinfold from 1879 to 1892.
