Bricklayers Arms, 24-28 Cromwell Street

Photo It is first mentioned in 1859 when it was used for an inquest. Until 1913 this pub only had an on-beerhouse license. It is also known to have brewed until 1920. It was bought by Phipps of Northampton in 1903 for £2,125 from Mrs Sidwell. Cash was also paid for the brewing plant. The adjoining house was also bought from Mrs Picton for £330 and it was extended into the pub c1907 - 1914. This is a back street local, well away from the main Stoney Stanton Road.

This is a common name normally recalling the occupation of the owner.
