This pub was named after the Coventry fork truck and pump engine manufacturer (later Kalmar Climax) at a time when they built the engines that powered the Cooper, Cooper-Climax and Lotus cars to Le Mans and Formula 1 World Championships.
It opened on Wednesday 19th December 1962, and was reported at the time to be a joint effort between Flowers and Ansells, built for Market Taverns Ltd.
After closing in September 1983, it re-opened as the BUG AND BLACK BAT on the 6th January 1984 after a £45,000 investment by Ansells, then in 1994 the name changed again, at a cost of £400,000, to ROSIE O'BRIENS PUMPHOUSE. | |||
