Before the Second World War had even ended there were plans in February 1945 to build this Mitchells and Butlers pub on the corner of Dillotford Avenue and Watercall Avenue. However, a license was not granted until January 1955, and in early October 1956 the Coventry Evening Telegraph reported that this pub, and the Brooklands near Holyhead Road, were still "to be built". Things moved quickly though, and in late November The Haven was advertising for bar staff and cleaners.
In 1977, as part of a measure taken to reduce M&B's domination of Coventry's pubs, the Haven was swapped from M&B to Courage, despite 250 locals protesting that they would refuse to drink Courage beer. Some time between 2000 and 2008 the name changed to NEW HAVEN. | |||
