The name came from the local coal mining industry. It was either a nickname for the miners or the name of a machine that they employed.
It was built in 1979 as Shipstones of Nottingham's only local pub. However they were soon taken over by Scottish and Newcastle.
In c1989 it was renamed the TIGER MOTH.|
