This pub might possibly have previously been the Tiger Liquor Vaults, run by Thomas George Johnson junior. By March 1861 Johnson had been declared bankrupt and victualler Robert Davis appointed to take over as licensee.
From 1861 to 1863 Davis ran the establishment the OLD PALACE VAULTS in Earl Street before handing the license to William West.
