Pickering's Vaults, 31A High Street

High St East Early 1900s
High Street looking east, early 1900s.
Previously in Hertford Street, in October 1860 P. J. Pickering advertised that he was a "Licensed Dealer in Wines, and General Commission Agent" in High Street. His premises, No. 31A, appear to have been shared with Smyth's Tailors, No. 31B - on the right in the photograph above. The business continued until the 1920s and then the building was used as a Sketchley Dry Cleaners Receiving Office.
