Plough, Street not known, Longford

This is one of the commonest pub names in Britain, having been in use since at least the sixteenth century. Apart from the farm implement signs often show the group of seven stars in the Ursa Major constellation called 'the plough'. The only mention of this pub is in Phipps Estate Ledger, where it states that the pub was bought on March 16, 1889, from Mrs M. Sutton for £916. 2s. 0d. A rent of £30 per annum was to be charged.
