Prince of Wales, Jordan Well

In 1844 the Coventry Standard reported a man charged with disturbing the peace after drinking in James Bagshaw's Prince of Wales. The following year Bagshaw himself (also a broker and furniture dealer) was ordered to pay an allowance to an illegitimate daughter. The last we hear of the pub is James Bagshaw auctioning it and all its contents in October 1847, in order to become an auctioneer himself. In 1850, however, he left Coventry and auctioned off his auction business!

A very common sign which often shows Edward (1841 - 1910) eldest son of Queen Victoria, who eventually became Edward VII in 1901. Some signs show Edward II or the Black Prince, both of whom were Prince of Wales.
