Rainbow, Without Well Street Gate

These premises have been known by different names during their history:FROMTONAME
1779?CAT AND BAGPIPES
1779?RAINBOW
In 1779 the Rainbow is said to have been for many years the CAT AND BAGPIPES.

The Rainbow has been used since the seventeenth century. Its distinctive shape and colours make it a good visual sign, while it may also refer to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
