Sword and Mace, Mill Lane

This earliest record found yet for this pub is from Piercy's Coventry Gazette, 7th March 1778, for an auction "at the House of Mrs. Shaw, situate in Mill-Lane . . . known by the Sign of the Sword-and-Mace". The last mention found is of Joseph Barton leaving West Orchard to take the Sword and Mace, in Mill-Lane, in February 1805.

This name refers either to civic regalia or royal regalia.
