White Lion, Longford

These premises have been known by different names during their history:FROMTONAME
Old White Lion
White Lion
In 1803 Jopson's Coventry Mercury advertised auctions held at this pub. The earliest newspaper report found so far is a report on 13th March 1829 in the Coventry Herald of regular breaches of order being committed at the house of Mary Timms. At various times between 1848 and when it was finally sold in 1872 the pub was referred to in newspapers as the OLD WHITE LION.

This is a heraldic reference to Edward IV, or the Earls of March or Duke of Norfolk.
