Canal Tavern Leicester Row One recorded beerhouse here. In the 1841 census Robert Golsby, 30, is a publican in Leicester Row. By 1851 he is 43 and a victualler in Bishop Street but in 1861 he is 54 and a porter in New Street. This became the CANAL TAVERN, where Robert Golsby was full licensee from October 1836 to 1844. From 1850 to 1851 he was licensee of the nearby CRANES.
