Walsgrave, Sowe Waste (Randall)

Address:Walsgrave
Became:Spotted Dog
Alternative Addresses:Sowe
There are no matching records in the 1841 and 1851 census. The only other references to Randall in the website are Charles Randall, brewer at the Green Dragon in Much Park Street in 1841 and Joe Randall at the Bullfield in 1893. This pub was described as being on the same side of Woodway Lane as the Jolly Colliers but 'further down', i.e. nearer to Coventry. When the local collieries were at their peak this pub would be full of miners drinking beer every night. By the 1930s it had been converted into the local post-office and general stores.
