In 1872 Mr Buckler applied fo a license for his premises at No. 11 Smithford Street, where he already supplied groceries, tea and wines & spirits. He stated that he did not want to sell on the premises, that is, he was applying for an off license. However, in 1878 the licensing justices record the Board in Smithford Street with an alehouse license, that is a full on license, with the licensee William Edward Buckler.
This license was not renewed by the licensing justices in 1889 after John Sutton was declared bankrupt the previous year.
