Hart, Bayley Lane

At the Michaelmas Leet 1451 a messuage with shops in the further front called the HART comes into the ownership of the mayor and Commonality of the city. As many of the properties in Bayley Lane ran through to the High Street, the shops on the 'further front' would have been on the High Street. The WHITE HART continued on the High Street until the last time it is mentioned in 1778.
