It opened in 1961 when the licensee was Bernard A. Turrell. In 1982 it was described as "an excellent modern estate pub".
In 1984 it was renamed TOPPERS but reverted to the KINGS HEAD again in 1990, incorporating KING EDWARDS Private Members' Club.
By 2010 it had become KINGS followed by the HUNGRY ELEPHANT bar and grill in 2019. One of the most popular pub names. The head usually shown on signs is that of Henry VIII but at least eight other monarchs have been shown. Sometimes there are different kings on each side of the sign board. | |||
