Queen's Hotel Vaults, Warwick Lane
Alternative Addresses: | Greyfriars Lane
These premises have been known by different names during their history: | FROM | TO | NAME |
c1885 | 1911 | QUEEN'S HOTEL BAR
1911 | c1925 | QUEEN'S HOTEL VAULTS
This was a name occasionally used from the start for the Queen's Hotel Bar, and from 1911 it took on the name QUEEN'S HOTEL VAULTS exclusively. Obviously this was the bar to the Queen's Hotel, Hertford Street.
It was listed as separate premises between 1911 and 1940 but a licensee's name is never given.
It is mostly reported as being in Greyfriars Lane, but it actually stood in Warwick Lane, as this 1888 map extract shows. This could refer to a number of queens, Elizabeth I, Victoria or Anne being the usual candidates.
