This must be named after the General Lee from the American Civil War (1861-65).
Opened c1864, in 1870 it became the STONELEIGH ABBEY, sometimes referred to as the Board Vaults (as were many public houses).
In 1878 these premises, plus the Red Lion Inn next door, were demolished to make space for the Queens Hotel, which opened in 1879. | |||
