In 1861 Henry Brown had been an Ale, Porter & Wine merchant at Ford Street, but by June 1862 he had moved his main business to 75 Spon Street, while retaining his stores at Much Park Street. Later that year he amalgamated his whole wine, spirit brewing business at Spon Street.
In November 1871 Brown handed over the license to William Norris, late of the Thistle Inn, West Orchard. Norris repeatedly advertised his premises as The BOARD, but after just three months, February 1872, the adverts dried up and no more is heard from him.
The next we hear is when William Brennand takes the license in 1974 and renames the pub the SPOTTED DOG. | |||
